Former Clemson Tiger C.J. Fuller has died. Fuller was a member of Clemson's 2016 national championship team before leaving the program.

During the national championship game, it was Fuller's kickoff return against Alabama that sparked Clemson's game-winning drive in Tampa.

Clemson's official release came out moments ago with the following quotes from Coach Dabo Swinney.

“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with C.J.’s family,” Head Coach Dabo Swinney said. “I’ve known C.J. a long time and watched him grow up through the Easley rec leagues all the way through Easley High School. I’m proud of what he accomplished as a Clemson Tiger, most of all, his accomplishment of being a Clemson graduate. Our deepest condolences and the thoughts of our program are with his family this evening. May he rest in peace.”

Fuller will also be remembered by Clemson fans for his incredible reception for a touchdown in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State.

Fuller appeared in 43 games for Clemson across the 2015-17 seasons after redshirting during the 2014 campaign. He recorded 147 career carries for 599 yards with four rushing touchdowns in addition to catching 18 passes for 155 yards with two receiving touchdowns.

Unfortunately, after leaving the Clemson team last year, he was arrested during the offseason and charged with armed robbery along with former Clemson Tiger Jadar Johnson and former Duke lineman Quaven Ferguson.

Details surrounding his death are not known at this time. We will have more on this story as it develops. Fuller was 22 at the time of his death.

Former players have also been posting on social media about the news including Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Shaq Lawson who posted that Fuller was coming to visit him tomorrow.

Awful news. Thoughts with his family in this difficult time. They've been through a lot in a past few months.

Always loved how they announced his name so much like CJ Spiller. Every carry sort of brought back memories of Spiller's career at Clemson. Sad day.

Rest in peace.
