Coach Speak with Tommy Bowden: Georgia Tech

Last night Tommy Bowden joined us to talk about Georgia Tech. Find out which team he thinks the poor weather conditions will favor and if the coaching staff might have learned something that causes them to handle Kelly Bryant's ankle differently this weekend.

Coach Bowden also told us a great story about facing his father, Florida State's legendary head coach Bobby Bowden before Clemson removed the crown from the field.

On using the Spring Game as a fundraiser:

"The Spring Game could really be advantages for some great charity group, like you said, take Clemson and Tennessee and meet half-way and play or at one of the other schools, charge for it, and give all the proceeds to charity."

On if the potentially cold and rainy weather favors one team over the other:

"You know Georgia Tech, a lot of their game is horizontal, getting on the perimeter. If the field is wet, where it affects footing, it could effect them, but the team with the best amount of skill is Clemson. I don't think it will be that big of a factor. Unless it's just a downpour and I don't think that's what's projected. Clemson's got a great field, and they really take care of it. It would take a lot of water and rain during the game to effect it."

On the honesty of college injury reports at the collegiate level:

"I think there is a gentleman's agreement with the head coaches. In those spring meetings that we had, it was always discussed because every school has a different way that they release their injuries to the media. We tried to get a common ground so that everybody was playing by the same set of rules because of trickery and deceit of some schools."

On if the coaches will look at Kelly Bryant's situation differently this week:

"I would say that he probably learned something from the last time that they played as far as some signs early in the game. Sometimes you play your way into it, and it loosens up and gets going. You usually have a pretty good feeling after pregame. When they come back in from pregame most injuries, have been tested. They put the players through some pretty strenuous drills so, after pregame, I think any fan that is watching the pregame if you see some limping and stuff, I would say there's a chance he might not play."
