The latest College Football Playoff rankings are out, and the Clemson Tigers moved up to No. 2 after Georgia's loss to Auburn and Notre Dame's loss to Miami this past weekend.

What gave Clemson the edge over Miami was the win against Auburn.
- Kirby Hocutt

Taking a quick look, the top four teams in the polls are #1 Alabama, #2 Clemson, #3 Miami, and #4 Oklahoma. Much like the week three playoff scenario, Clemson is set to face Miami in the ACC Championship on December 2nd.

College Football Playoff Committee chairman Kirby Hocutt explained Clemson being ranked ahead of Miami stating, "What gave Clemson the edge over Miami was the win against Auburn. Clemson has two impressive road wins this season, Miami's not played a winning team on the road yet."

Clemson is now 9-1, including a 7-1 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference after locking up the Atlantic Division Title with a 31-14 victory over Florida State last weekend. The Tigers boast wins over six teams with winning records.

In addition to Clemson's victory over #6 Auburn, the Tigers have a win at #19 NC State.

Three of Clemson’s wins have come on the road against top 20 teams at the time. It is the first time Clemson has had three top 20 wins on the road since 1950.

The College Football Playoff semifinals will be played at the Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl on January 1st. The National Championship will be held on Monday, January 8th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Clemson has been in the top four of the CFB Playoff rankings 15 consecutive times, which is second only to Alabama who's been there 18 straight times.

Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State are the only teams that have appeared in all 22 sets of the CFB Playoff rankings.

I was surprised to see Clemson at #2. I thought that would be the case watching the games this weekend, but then after the polls came out and Clemson got jumped, I was convinced that would happen in the CFB Playoff polls too.

Big Tiger fan, but as of right now, the product on the field (especially on the offensive side of the ball) isn't deserving of the #2 ranking. Up front defensively, we absolutely ARE a top 1 or 2 team. But I've been less than impressed with KB and the playcalling the last few weeks. I would've kept us at #4. Even though I always hope the boys never listen to the media/press during the season, now I hope they do because SURELY they'll find some kind of motivation from hearing every media outlet asking WTH the Tigers are #2 when they don't LOOK like a #2 team. I hope they read/hear those comments and use it to spur them to prove the media wrong and the CFP Committee right.
