Clemson, S.C. –The No. 7 Clemson men’s soccer team will welcome No. 15 Duke to Historic Riggs Field for the Tigers’ home-opener in ACC play on Friday night. The match will kick-off at 8 p.m., following the conclusion of the No. 10 Clemson women’s soccer team’s contest against Notre Dame. The Clemson men’s team enters Friday’s contest after defeating the Fordham Rams this past Tuesday night in a 3-2, overtime thriller.

Series Notes

  • The two sides enter the match with control of the series record on the line, as the two schools are met at a deadlock of 26-26-5 overall.
  • Friday night’s match will be the 22nd meeting where the two schools are both ranked within the top 25 nationally. The match will also be the 14th time the two schools have met while being ranked nationally within the top 15.
  • Head Coach Mike Noonan is 4-3-1 against the Blue Devils during his first nine years at Clemson. 
  • Overall, Clemson has outscored the Blue Devils by a 96-88 margin.
  • The two teams met for the first time on Dec. 1, 1939. Duke won the match by a 3-0 score.

  • Daniele Proch leads the team in career goals, with the senior having netted 29.
  • Sergi Nus, a transfer from Virginia, leads the team in minutes played, logging 532 through six matches.
  • Duke was ranked as high as second in the national polls this season. However, two consecutive losses the past week resulted in the Blue Devils dropping to 15th.
  • The Blue Devils are lead in goal by Will Pulisic, cousin to U.S. National Team member Christian Pulisic. Pulisic leads the ACC with 20 saves, ranks 36th in the country in career save percentage (.734) and 26th in career saves (141).
  • Jack Doran, Brandon Williamson, Matthias Frick and Will Pulisic lead the team as the captains for the 2019 season.
  • Head Coach John Kerr is in his 12th season with the Duke Blue Devils. Coach Kerr has the opportunity to coach his son, Cameron, as the freshman starts his time in Durham.
