Last month, Clemson played 111 players against Charlotte, and head coach Dabo Swinney knew how much that opportunity meant to every player that touched the field, and how much more it meant to the players who had never played in a college game. He’d been there before.

“Southern Miss, 1989,” Swinney said with excitement after the Tigers 52-10 blowout win over Charlotte.
