Athlon Sports, 49-14 Clemson

What they said:

“Motivation plays such a big role in sports — and football in particular — and that is something Wake Forest will need to battle this week. The loss to the Hokies not only destroyed the Demon Deacons' ACC Atlantic title chances, it also severely hampered their New Year’s Six bowl hopes. The Deacs are already bowl eligible and now it’s about playing for pride and getting into the best bowl they can. And the team on the other sideline has everything on the line. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has always talked about approaching the season in steps. Goal No. 1 was accomplished by winning the Atlantic. But the Tigers always have the big prize on their minds and November is the time to get ready for the postseason. Clemson will maul Wake Forest this weekend and continue to show why they will again be a prime contender when the College Football Playoff starts on Dec. 28.”

Last season, Lyn-J Dixon and Travis Etienne torched the Demon Deacons on the ground rushing as the Tigers combined for 471 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Bleacher Report, 49-17 Clemson

What they said:

“If this one turns into a shootout, Wake Forest is capable of putting some points on the board, even facing an excellent Clemson defense. However, the Demon Deacons have zero chance of slowing a Tigers offense that is averaging 45.3 points and 545.8 yards per game.”

CBS Sports, Clemson -32.5

“Clemson is in the business of sending messages to the selection committee. Specifically, "we are a lot better than our schedule". Wake Forest may be the second-best team in the league. Clemson is almost a five-touchdown favorite, and with the breaking news that Demon Deacons' start wide receiver Sage Surratt is out for the season, it may get bigger. Get on this before it does. Pick: Clemson (-32.5)”

College Football News, 48-17 Clemson

What they said:

“This should actually be a wee bit of a test for the Tigers. Wake Forest has the passing game to keep on pressing even if it gets down fast, and there’s a good enough pass rush and defensive front to at least apply a little bit of pressure on Trevor Lawrence.

Clemson is humming now, though, and it’ll win without too much of a concern. The offense will get up fast, but Wake Forest will score just a wee bit to keep this from being a total embarrassment.”
