Michael Felder: "I think Clemson is finding their stride."
Each week, Michael Felder from the Bleacher Report joins us to talk about the top stories in college football. We also dive into the playoff committee rankings as they are released live on the Tuesday edition of the show.
On which teams are playing the best right now:
"I think Auburn is on that list. Miami is on the list, even though they stumbled this weekend out of the gate. They regrouped, they've got composure from that coaching staff that's just unmatched. I think Clemson is finding their stride. Those three and Oklahoma would probably be the next one for me."
"Ohio State is a close one in there as well, maybe you take out Miami and throw in Ohio State because of their ability to go out and score points. After that loss to Iowa, they've rebounded pretty strong by smashing Michigan State and then what they were able to do this weekend against an obviously overmatched Illinois team. I really think we've got some teams playing good football. Wisconsin is playing good football, they got a couple big plays to get them into the end zone which is critical."
On Alabama:
"Alabama has real issues on the defensive side of the ball. Because of their injury situation, they have youth and inexperience working hand in hand. Some guys are redshirt juniors, but they haven't played a lot. Some guys are true freshmen and they're super talented, maybe will be first-round draft picks, but they're legitimately young in terms of age. So they have real problems."
"There are several teams you do not want to play with guys that are inexperienced. I think Clemson would be one of them because of the way they manipulate people with the run and the pass, I think Oklahoma is one of them because they've got a quarterback that can make precise throws, I think Penn State is one of them because of the way Joe Moorhead manipulates that offense to create big plays, and I think Auburn is one of those teams because of their ability to look right and then go left. That's a real struggle for inexperienced linebackers."
On the latest playoff rankings:
It's fine. I think we've got a very clear path to a playoff, right? We have Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia at one, six and seven. Only one of those teams is going to get in and the rest will fall by the wayside, that's fine. Miami and Clemson, those two teams will take care of themselves. That leaves a free spot for Wisconsin to get in, and it also leaves a free spot for Ohio State to maybe get in if they win."
"So it's all laid itself out very perfectly, it's all set up very well. For all the suspense and the drama, all the 'you don't respect us' that you might get out of Madison, Wisconsin, everything is laid out very well. They're (the committee) gonna get what they want. They're gonna get some big names, some big brands, and some good football.
