While Dabo Swinney’s own leadership has defined the Tigers' identity in the midseason of 2008, it’s his assistant hires that have often provided the strategic edge needed to reach the sport’s summit.

No. 6 Garrett Riley | Offensive Coordinator (2023–)

Garrett Riley’s second season at Clemson propelled him up the list, earning him a dynamic and high-upside spot at No. 6 on Clemson’s coaching hierarchy, though, like Tom Allen, his role is remarkably fluid.

In 2024, Riley’s offense ranked 11th nationally in total offense (451.9 yards per game) and 18th in scoring (34.7 ppg), driving Clemson to a 10‑4 record, an ACC title, and a playoff appearance. His balanced attack featured both a 3,000‑yard passer and a 1,000‑yard rusher, while the offense saw four wide receivers eclipse 500 yards—an achievement previously only reached in three national championship seasons.

Quarterback Cade Klubnik’s progression under Riley has been notable. In 2024, he tossed 36 touchdowns with just six interceptions, ranking third nationally in touchdown responsibility with 43 total scores. Klubnik is entering another season in Riley’s system is poised to be one of the top quarterbacks in college football.
