WBB: Clemson vs. Boston College ACC Tournament Game Notes

GAME PREVIEW

  • Clemson and Boston College meet for the 18th time in school history on Thursday evening in the second round of the 2020 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C. It’s also the second meeting of the season for the Tigers and Eagles.
  • Boston College downed Clemson, 70-68, inside Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C. in the teams’ only meeting of the season. The Tigers rallied to tie the game, but Bos- ton College hit clutch free throws down the stretch to take the victory.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

  • Boston College won three of its last four games to lock up the #6 seed in the ACC Tournament.
  • Eagles head coach Joanna Bemabei-McNamee was named the 2019-20 ACC Coach of the Year by both the head coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel.
  • Taylor Soule leads the Eagles in scoring at 14.2 poins per game, while Emma Guy is second with 13.4.
  • In conference play, Soule leads with 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds, while Guy is averaging 14.2 and 6.7.

THORNTON CLIMBING THE CHARTS

  • Senior Kobi Thornton scored her 1,000th career point in March of 2019. She now has 1,432 career points for 11th on Clemson’s all-time scoring list.
  • Thornton has also amassed 770 career rebounds for 6th on Clemson’s all-time re- bound list. The Shellman, Ga., native also has 142 career blocks, good for #3 in school history.
  • Thornton is now the second Tiger in history with at least 1400 points, 700 rebounds, and 100 blocks in her career
  • Thornton was named to the preseason All-ACC team, the Tigers’ first selection since Nikki Dixon in 2014.
