WTEN: Louka Tabbed ACC Freshman of the Week
Clemson, S.C -- Clemson freshman Eleni Louka has been named ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played March 2-8 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first time this season that a Clemson player has earned ACC weekly recognition.
The Derynia, Cyprus native extended her singles winning streak to five matches this week with three victories at line three, including wins over opponents from two of the nations top-five programs. On Friday against No. 4 Florida State, Louka outlasted No. 104 Nandini Das who was forced to retire at 3-2 in the final set. Then on Sunday, Louka notched a pair of wins over Adriana Reami of NC State (6-4, 6-2) and Chunxi Guo of Troy (6-1, 6-4).
In doubles, the freshman also faired well, adding a pair of victories alongside partner Mackenzy Middlebrooks, over NC State's Nandini Das/Andrea Garcia, 6-0, and Troy's Matea Mihaljevic/Shevita Aulana, 6-3.
