Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has won the 2017 Broyles award, given to the top assistant coach in the nation. This is the second year in a row a Clemson coach has won the award, as Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables took it home last season.

After winning the award, Elliott said, "It was coaches like Coach Broyles that helped make me the man I am today.”

Clemson is the first school ever with back-to-back winners.

Tony Elliott has helped guide the Clemson offense to top 40 ratings in multiple offensive categories, including scoring offense (21), rushing offense (33), and total offense (31). He has done it despite the loss of multiple playmakers from last season, including Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman, Mike Williams and Jordan Leggett, all of whom are on NFL rosters.

"To have back-to-back winners of the Broyles Award speaks to the success of our program.  A lot of credit for this goes to our players and staff."
- Dabo Swinney

“I am so happy for Tony Elliott,’ said Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney.  “To have back-to-back winners of the Broyles Award speaks to the success of our program.  A lot of credit for this goes to our players and staff."

“This is special for me personally because I coached Tony my first year in 2003 when I was receivers coach.  I have had a front row seat to his career as a player and a coach and I am so proud to have him recognized as the top assistant coach in the nation.”

Elliott talked about his former position coach and current head coach Dabo Swinney saying, “I never planned to be a coach. In 2011, my life changed when Coach Swinney brought me to Clemson.”

Elliott also said in respect to Swinney, "What you see is what you get.”

Clemson is currently 12-1 and the number one seed in the college football playoff.
