Clemson just wrapped up practice in Tiger Town and we've got the latest as Dabo Swinney takes a walk down Memory Lane. Here are a couple of quick notes along with the full audio.

Dabo Swinney

Opening statement:

"Excited about this weekend and proud of the guys and effort they put in here these first few days. Had a lot to do here in the next couple days but it's been a good week to this point."

On the Clemson’s defensive depth:

“That's really how we've always been around here, we try to create depth, we try to create functional depth-- guys that can play winning football. That helps your morale, but it creates competition. Competition helps you keep the edge that you need in every area-- practice, academics, meetings, you name it. We've always had that philosophy here. We want to recruit good players, get them ready to play if they deserve to play, let them go in there and play. Booth wasn't the starter last week he got ACC Player of the Week, I don't care who runs out there between him and Sheridan (Jones), it doesn't really matter to me, they're gonna both play a lot."

On Joseph Ngata returning from injury:

"Oh, he's a special player. I think I said the other day, I mean, if you would have asked me who I felt like coming out of camp was ready to explode, my first answer would have been Ngata. He is a really, really special player. Had a good first game against Wake Forest, a couple of grabs. Then you come back and he tweaked his abdominal muscle, and we didn't really hardly play him against The Citadel. Then he had a few moments last week, but had a couple plays where he just it just kind of reaggravated it. We just took him out. So we're trying to get him well. When he's full speed, you'll know, because he's special. No doubt about it. It's just a matter of time. Once we get him rolling will definitely be better for it. That's for sure."

Swinney the thought that he doesn’t have to motivate his team as he did in the past:

“We’ve always had guys like that. Grady Jarrett was a two-star guy but he was motivated."

Dabo Swinney on Miami’s zone-read game:

“Oh, it's a big test. First of all, they're good up front. You're playing a three-phase quarterback. He can beat you with his mind, legs, and arm. It creates a lot of pressure. It's a big test for them, but, again, they practice against a lot of similar things every day. Outside of Myles, they're not true freshmen. So they've made good progress, but it's still, from a game experience, it's still a work in progress there. But that'll definitely be a big challenge for us this week. Containing the quarterback, he's a guy that if you're up the field on him, and you don't understand where he is within the pocket, he's up and out the back door quickly. So there's a lot of things going on it in and we got to do a good job."

On Miami tight end Brevin Jordan:

"Yeah, you gotta know where they are. You've got to have your eyes on the right things. Some of their plays, they're running wide open. Make the plays, be competitive, if the guy makes a play he makes play. But let's don't let them make plays uncontested. So through these first three games, they've had a bunch of those. Where guys got their eyes on the wrong things, manipulating what's going on in the backfield and next thing, you know, those guys are wide open. They use them in a lot of different ways. Very, very talented. We've got to do a great job-- communicate and having the right matchups. knowing where they are. Brevin is their leading receiver, so he's a guy that you best believe, he's got our attention.

Dabo Swinney on the 2005 game against Miami in Death Valley:

“I remember putting true freshman Tyler Grisham into the game.” - (Swinney was the wide receiver coach and now Grisham is his wide receiver coach.)
