Clemson basketball reaches into the Tar Heel state for a third commit

On Sept. 30, Clemson basketball was a finalist for four-star 2021 shooting guard D'Marco Dunn‍ but the 2nd best player in North Carolina gave his pledge to another ACC school, the UNC Tar Heels.

The Tigers missed out on Dunn, but on Friday evening another NC native Lucas Taylor‍ chose Clemson. The 6-foot-6 shooting became the third commit in the class by selecting the Tigers over Cincinnati and Marquette. Taylor, from Heritage High in Wake Forest, NC, will join combo guard Joshua Beadle‍ and power forward Ian Schieffelin‍ in the upstate next year.

Taylor is regarded as a three-star recruit but his seventh overall player ranking in talent-rich North Carolina and list of 25 offers, suggest he could be undervalued and one to watch in the coming months.

Last season, Taylor averaged 22 points and six rebounds.
