BREAKING: Trevor Lawrence out for No. 1 Clemson's matchup with Notre Dame
Following No. 1 Clemson’s 34-28 win over Boston College, Dabo Swinney announced that starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence will not be able to play against Notre Dame next Saturday.
“Trevor will not be able to play. So we'll go ahead and get that out there. He's doing great. Zoomed with the team last night, I talked to him this morning. He feels like he could play today. So he's doing well,” Swinney stated.
“But obviously, there's a protocol in place. He will be out in time to play, but then you have the cardiac part of it, that you have to kind of ramp back up. And even if he feels great, and could probably go play he's not allowed to do that simply because of the protocol that is in place.”
Lawrence is currently in isolation after a positive test on Wednesday. As Swinney mentioned, due to the COVID-19 protocols that require cardiovascular tests after recovery, there is not a timeline that would allow the star quarterback to be on the field against the Fighting Irish.
Swinney said that Lawrence will be able to Zoom in for every meeting and will still be an asset to the team as they get ready to face Notre Dame on Saturday.
