The Storylines

Saturday’s ACC Championship Game is the biggest game in the history of the conference in recent memory because it’s two of the top four teams in the country meeting not only for a conference title, but for spots in the College Football Playoff.

For Clemson, a win this afternoon would mean a sixth consecutive conference title and birth in the College Football Playoff. Both teams are led by their programs’ respective winningest starting quarterbacks: Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Notre Dame’s Ian Book. Lawrence is 33-1, with his lone loss coming to LSU in the National Championship Game to end the 2019 season and Book is 30-3, with one of those losses coming in the College Football Playoff Semifinal in 2018 to Clemson when Lawrence was a freshman.

Thanks. I don't feel as bad about him missing the first half of next game now. Zanders is a beast.

Clemson beats Notre Dame 34-10 to win their sixth consecutive ACC Championship, winning the rematch combined with a healthy Trevor Lawrence and a dominant effort on defense.

A few quick postgame thoughts:

  • Clemson's defense came ready to play today with 6 sacks this afternoon compared to 2 sacks in the first game in South Bend. I was really impressed with Clemson's defensive line in keeping Ian Book in the pocket and not allowing him to make plays on the move. Notre Dame's offense was held to 263 yards and held Kyren Williams and the Irish rushing game to 44 yards.

  • Trevor Lawrence sat on the sidelines on Nov. 7 and he came out today following an early interception, finishing 25 of 36 for 2 touchdowns but I thought the most effective part for him was the run game. He ran for 90 yards. Travis Etienne had his best game of the season in my mind, rushing for 124 yards

"Best collective performance of the year," ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit -- is the best way to sum up tonight's performance

Clemson will find out who they're playing in the College Football Playoff tomorrow at noon.
