Watch: Dabo Swinney Friday Practice Update: "An average day."

Friday afternoon, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke with the media about an "average" two days of practice. Clemson's bowl preparation is underway a little ahead of where it's been the in the past and Dabo Swinney said how things were going.

“Just okay, as far as where we are practice-wise. We're not anywhere where we need to be or where I want us to be. Just kind of average," Swinney noted Friday afternoon. "Yesterday and today, to be honest with you. It's a little different challenge for us this year. In last several years, when we've started bowl practice school has been over, and we've had all bowl focus."

Right now in Clemson school, bowl prep, and the first ever early signing period are all coming together on the calendar.

"Everything is pushed back a week later, so we've been having to balance finals, and in recruiting there has been a lot going on this week."

The hectic schedule may be holding Clemson back from getting the little things right.

"Not quite the edge or the focus that we need yesterday or today. Thankfully, today was the last day of finals so starting tomorrow we will have their full attention on what we've got to do to get ready to play this ballgame. Not terrible, just pretty average, but we will ramp it up tomorrow.”

Swinney was asked if his style would change knowing what's in store in New Orleans. Swinney went on to say that Clemson would "do what they do" and "challenge the leadership" to be ready to play. 

Swinney also talked about talking with Chad Morris who was recently named the head coach at Arkansas. "Oh yeah, I've talked to him several times. Tickled to death for him. I think it's a good fit for him. If you are going to be successful at Arkansas, you've got to have some Texas ties."
