Three-star Defensive Tackle signs LOI with Clemson
★★★ Darnell Jefferies Newton High School - Covington, GA
Clemson just snagged another Peach State prospect as Newton High three-star junior defensive tackle Darnell Jefferies signed with Clemson.
Jefferies, known as "Big Baby" stands 6'4 and weighs in around the 285-pound mark. He looked to be an early lock for Georgia after making over a dozen trips to Athens during the recruiting process.
However, in June, he committed to Clemson and has been firm in his pledge to the Tigers. Jefferies will be a mid-year enrollee and starts classes at Clemson on January 10, 2018.
People close to Jefferies talk about his personality and humility.
During a ceremony held at Covington High School on Friday his Coach Terrance Banks had this to say about the talented interior defensive lineman, “Here he is, on his next to last day in high school, in the weight room helping young players get better and get stronger. A kid like him, the attention you get, sometimes you don’t have to do that because everybody wants to be around you.”
Once again it would appear that Clemson has managed to snag a player with a 5-star attitude about what it takes to be great playing the game he loves.
