Moments ago, four-star Salisbury High (NC) linebacker Jalon Walker‍ committed to Georgia over Clemson,  Auburn, Alabama, North Carolina, and Ohio State.

Our sister site, DawgPost.com, had this to say about the importance of landing Walker over Clemson:

“For the second time this week, the Georgia Bulldogs have beaten the Clemson Tigers for one of the top prospects in the 2022 class.

5-star ATH Malaki Starks‍ chose the Bulldogs over the Tigers earlier this week, and now Kirby Smart has landed a commitment from one of Clemson’s top targets, four-star linebacker Jalon Walker‍.

This is important for multiple reasons.

Not only is Walker an elite prospect at 6-foot-2 220-pounds who knows how to run and hit, but it’s a giant loss for the Clemson Tigers. They don’t miss on many of their top targets so this one really stings for ole’ Dabo.”

Walker, the No. 50 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per reports, said he made his choice a week ago and it came down to Clemson, Georgia, and North Carolina. Clemson was considered a leader for Walker until recent days as the Bulldogs pulled ahead.

As mentioned above, his commitment to Georgia gives the Dawgs consecutive pledges from a recruit listing both schools as finalists. A huge win in Athens, so where do things stand for the Tigers?

Here are a few 2022 recruiting class notes from March:

On Friday, Clemson reached out west to offer another California athlete. Defensive tackle Hero Kanu‍ (6'5, 293 pounds) attends Santa Margarita Catholic High in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and now has a total of 14 offers.

Also on Friday, Oscar Smith High (VA) safety Sherrod Covil Jr.‍ (6'0, 185) released his top 11 schools, and Clemson made the list despite only extending an offer to him a day earlier.

Covil, a four-star recruit and top 20 at his position according to 247Sports Composite, will pick between the Tigers, Alabama, Auburn, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia, USC, and Virginia Tech.

On March 19, four-star offensive lineman Kiyaunta Goodwin‍ narrowed his list of over 60 offers to five. The Charlestown, Indiana native is down to Clemson, Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Ohio State.

On March 5, Missouri cornerback Toriano Pride‍ (5'11, 172) selected his top-7 schools. Pride will decide between Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio State, and Oregon.

The St. Lutheran North standout was one of the best players at the NFA 7-on-7 East Coast Regional (Myrtle Beach, SC) in February according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. Here's what Wiltfong had to say about Pride after the regional.

"The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Pride has outstanding body control, finds his top-end gear in a hurry, and came up with several big plays to help Midwest Boom advance deep in the tournament. Just a true 1-on-1 guy Boom was able to put on an island in this setting."

Notable 2022 five-star recruits with Clemson in their top groups.

Unity Reed (VA) standout Shawn Murphy‍, the top inside linebacker, has the Tigers in his Top 8.

No. 2 overall recruit Walter Nolen‍, a defensive tackle from St. Benedict at Auburndale (TN) - Top 10.

The fifth-ranked recruit in the country, Shemar Stewart‍, from Monsignor Pace (FL) - Top 10.

Lakeland High's (FL) Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy‍, the No. 3 defensive tackle - Top 11.

No. 2 defensive tackle Travis Shaw‍, from Grimsley High in Greensboro, NC - Top 13.

Defensive end Enai White‍, from Imhotep Institute (PA) - Top 13.

Top athlete Keon Sabb‍, from national power IMG Academy (FL) - Top 15.
