Tigers Drop First ACC Match to North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Clemson women’s soccer team (7-3, 2-1 ACC) dropped its first ACC match of the season to the North Carolina Tar Heels (8-1-1, 1-1-1 ACC) 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.
The Tigers and Tar Heels battled back and forth for possession and the offensive edge in the first 30 minutes of the first half until North Carolina found the back of the net in the 32nd minute. Both teams went scoreless for the remaining 13 minutes, giving North Carolina the 1-0 advantage at the half.
North Carolina started the second half strong as they extended their lead to two, six minutes into the second half. The Tigers continued battling to find the back of the net, but with six minutes left in the match, a foul in the box against the Tigers led to a successful penalty kick for North Carolina, giving the Tar Heels a 3-0 win.
The Tigers will return to Historic Riggs Field and host Florida State on Friday night at 7 p.m. Game coverage for the match will be available on ACCNX.
