Clemson adds fourth receiver to the 2022 class
On Wednesday, Tarheel state receiver Levi Matthews (Sanderson High, Raleigh, NC) announced via Twitter his commitment to Clemson.
"Thank you god for this opportunity and thank you to my parents and coaches. Beyond blessed to be in this position. 100% Committed."
Matthews will be joining the football program in 2022 as a preferred walk-on. At 6'5, 185 pounds, he played on both sides of the ball for Sanderson. The Cap-7 all-conference pick had 30 receptions for 401 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver and 39 tackles, an interception, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery as a linebacker in 2021.
Matthews, who has a 40 time of 4.50 and broad jump of 9'4, also plays basketball and is a member of the Spartans track team.
He chose Clemson over scholarship offers from Butler, Dartmouth, and St. Augustine's.
This marks the second consecutive year the Tigers added a late big receiver to their class. Last year, Zach Jackson (6'4, 207) was a late addition to the 2021 class.
