Sammy Watkins Shows Out on Thursday Night Football
Many people wondered if former Clemson reciever Sammy Watkins would be able to thrive with the Los Angeles Rams, a team who's offense was among the worst in the NFL last season. For at least one night, those concerns have been alleviated.
Watkins exploded under the Thursday night lights against the San Francisco 49ers, posting six catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Rams win a wild shootout, 41-39.
Watkins started slow, only posting a couple of catches in the first half, but turned it on in the second half with some incredible catches, including this twisting catch along the sidelines.
Later in the third quarter, Watkins would find the endzone for the first time in his Rams career.
In the fourth quarter, Watkins would add another touchdown to his total on a gritty play in which he caught the pass and pushed his way through a couple of defenders to find paydirt to help give the Rams an insurmountable lead.
It was a huge night for Watkins, and a good sign for his career with the Rams going forward. Check out his extended highlights here.
Unfortunately, after the game, Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo, reported that Watkins was being evaluated, after his second touchdown, for a concussion.
