Clemson gets 10th Peach State commit for 2023 recruiting class
Three-star cornerback Shelton Lewis (Stockbridge High, Stockbridge, Ga) committed to Clemson on Monday over Arkansas, Boston College, Pittsburgh, UNC, and Vanderbilt. He became the 19th commit and the 10th Peach State recruit in the 2023 class.
Lewis was once committed to Pittsburgh but decommitted on June 26.
He took his first-ever visit to Clemson for the All-In Cookout on July 25 and subsequently received an offer.
In 2021, the 5'11, 180-pound junior made 31 tackles and deflected 8 passes.
He also excelled in track and field, where he won the 5A GHSAA 400m championship with a time of 48.04, and in the classroom, where he was honored on the A's and B's Honor Roll.
In a May interview with recruiting analyst Luke Winstel, Lewis described what makes him different as a defensive back.
"Being able to run with anybody and [I] can move my feet," he said. "Just running with anybody, no matter who it is."
Lewis will join 7-on-7 teammates and fellow Georgia natives Avieon Terrell (Westlake High, Atlanta, Ga) and Branden Strozier (St. Francis High, Alpharetta, Ga) as secondary commits in the class.
