Final: Clemson 34, Boston College 7
It was a slow start for both offenses today in Death Valley, as Clemson (4-0, 2-0) and Boston College (1-3, 0-2) would combine for seven punts, before either team could crack the scoreboard. In a game that Clemson was favored to win by 34.5 points, things didn't go as planned for much of the day.
Clemson's first scoring drive would come in the second quarter, consuming 13 plays and 94 yards. Clemson guard Taylor Hearn would excite the crowd by scooping up a Kelly Bryant fumble, and getting into the open field for a Tiger first down. Kelly Bryant would cap the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run.
Clemson took a 7-0 lead to the break, but Boston College would be the first to strike in the second half, knotting the game up at 7. After another exchange of punts, Clemson would go on a 10 play, 67 yard drive to take a 14-7 lead with 11:59 remaining in the 4th quarter.
Eventually, Clemson would open things up with a couple of 50-yard plays, as Travis Etienne and Ray-Ray McCloud would spark a late Clemson run.
True freshman Travis Etienne would be the story again. Etienne rushed for 113 yards and 2 scores on just 9 carries. Junior quarterback Kelly Bryant also had a nice day on the ground rushing for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bryant was 17-26 for 140 yards through the air.
The Tiger defense had another strong day. They allowed just 238 total yards and held Boston College to 97 yards rushing.
