NFL Mock Draft has two Clemson stars slipping into Second Round

Two former Clemson stars, Bryan Bresee and Trenton Simpson, may be seeing their draft stock fall a bit as an NFL Mock Draft from ESPN’s Matt Miller dropped both players into the second round with the 37th and 38th picks. Miller, however, does have Myles Murphy going in the Top 10 as the 8th overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons.

Miller projects Bresee to the Seattle Seahawks with the 37th overall pick. Miller notes his productivity being down and dealing with kidney issues at one point during his final year at Clemson.

“Bresee has injury questions -- he missed time with a kidney issue -- and his tape wasn't as good in 2022 as it was in the past. But he has potential as a three-down defensive lineman at either 3- or 5-technique.”

Xavier Thomas and Trenton Simpson await the results from a penalty against Georgia Tech.

With Simpson, Miller has him going 38th to the Las Vegas Raiders, noting their need for a versatile linebacker.

“The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder had 12.5 sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss and 161 total tackles over the past three years while also proving to be a menace in pass coverage.”

The duo, who many projected not only as Top 15 picks, chose to leave Clemson early, and if Miller’s protection is any indication of how the NFL views Bresee and Simpson at this point, they both might need great showings at the NFL Combine and Clemson’s Pro Day to jump back into the first round.
