Clemson Coasts Past Syracuse 91-73

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University men’s basketball defeated Syracuse 91-73 on Wednesday night. The win marks Clemson’s 12th ACC win of the year – a new program record.

The Tigers (20-8, 12-5 ACC) recorded 28 assists - the most in the Brad Brownell Era and the most in an ACC contest this season league wide.

Hunter Tyson (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont) was one of five Tigers to score in double figures. Tyson posted 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds earning him his 13th double-double of the year. Tyson stretched the floor for the Tigers and connected on six 3-point field goals, tying his career high.

Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) was an effective floor general tonight for the Tigers. Hunter scored 13 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists. That mark tied the most assists by a player under Brownell while at Clemson.

Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson), Brevin Galloway (Anderson, S.C./Seneca) and PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) all scored in double figures as well, adding 10, 15 and 16, respectively.

Schieffelin tied a career-high in assists with six and also grabbed eight boards. Galloway knocked down three from long range and added four boards. Hall continued his efficient play scoring on 8-of-11 field goal attempts.

Clemson used a 21-8 run in the first half to open up an 18-point lead. Leading by 13 at the break, the Tigers expanded their lead to a game-high 25 points with just over six minutes left and cruised to the 18-point win.

The Tigers travel to NC State to take on the Wolfpack on Saturday. The game is slated to tip off at 12 p.m. and will air on RSN.

  • Clemson improved to 20-8 with the win over Syracuse
  • The Tigers improved to 12-5 in the ACC
  • Clemson won its 12th game of the conference schedule, setting a new program record for wins in league play (previous was 11 in 1951-52 SoCon; 11 in 2017-18 ACC)
  • The Tigers’ 28 assists were the most by a Clemson team in the Brad Brownell Era … it was also the most by an ACC team in the league this season
  • Chase Hunter finished with his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 assists, the 11 assists were a career-best. It also tied for the most in a game under Brownell
  • Hunter Tyson recorded his 13th double-double of the season and 14th of his career
  • Tyson finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds
  • He is one double-double away from cracking the Clemson top 10 for double-doubles in a season
  • Tyson played in his 134th career game, tying the Clemson program record with Cliff Hammonds, K.C. Rivers, Trevor Booker and Devin Booker
  • Clemson’s 14 made 3-pointers is tied for the eighth-most in a single game in program history.
