Riley says Clemson's offense 'in a great spot' going into Duke matchup

On facing Duke DC Tyler Santucci and Head Coach Mike Elko, who worked together at Texas A&M: “Done some of both. I know they coached with each other in their time-- in their history. It's mostly been the Duke film, but we’ve done out due diligence with this amount of time and gone back and watched some A&M to see if there is anything we need to uncover there. It will be a fun challenge for us.”

On Duke’s ability to force turnovers: “I think their guys play extremely hard. That’s the type of kids that they have. I think their staff has done a great job. You can tell that they put a lot of emphasis on that. They have a lot of people swarming to the ball. I think some of the activity they present up front-- got a lot of snaps under their belt with those guys on the interior of their defensive line. Those guys are active.”

On if the offense is where he wants it to be: “We’ve progressed a lot since my first few weeks here. I think we are in a great spot going into it. I think we’ve got a lot of different guys that are capable of making a lot of plays for us. Continuity-- chemistry up front. I think we are in a great spot going into game one. I’m excited to see our players play.”

On the offense: “Every offense, every team is different, so it’s going to be different than the ones I’ve been around. But I think we’ve got guys who have bought into this deal since Day 1-- there is no question about it. I think they have seen in practices so far that we’ve got a lot of different people who can make plays. I think that might be the biggest thing. We are well-rounded and have a lot of guys who can make some things happen. Our guys have bought into that.”

On what he learned from fall camp: “Probably just more about what our guys can handle. Fall camp, we had a lot of new guys here compared to spring football. That was the biggest thing for me. Figuring out these new people, how they fit, guys that were hurt being back in fall camp. Put the best 11 out there for us offensively. Who are those people and what can they handle?”
