On the team losing two of the last three years before a bye week: “I wasn't aware of that statistic. I don't think it's really in front of our minds heading into this week. Just kind of taking the same mindset that each week is a season of its own. Got to go 1-0. And that's really what we've been emphasizing this week so far.”

On his ability to show up and compete for his teammates the last couple of weeks: “It's been great though. And in terms of going out there and competing, having to shift our mindset from the original goal that we had set out to achieve, I think it's been really good how the team responded. How I've responded personally. That's one thing that's easy for me. It's just my competitive nature. It'll never allow me to take something off whether I want to or not. Whether it's tough to get up or maybe have the same motivation, my competitive nature is driven by discipline. So, that always helps me out and I think the team they've also done a tremendous job with how we've responded and the mindset going forward.

On having running back Phil Mafah in the backfield to help wear down the FSU defense: “I think towards the end of that game, we had the opportunities to put them away. No question. I think just having Phil and I being able to bounce off one another, whether it's a two-back set or whether it's getting a little bit of rest while the counterpart goes out there and does their work, is huge for us. Obviously wanting to put them away late in the game when we had the opportunities but we didn't. Just continuing to look at how Phil and I can help this football team out, this offense in particular, and keep doing our thing.”

On sophomore quarterback Cade Klubnik's progression this year: “As you mentioned the big plays that he's making, I think he's just learning from every opportunity and every mistake that he's made. That's when the game truly slows down as you're able to view it as just going out there like the practice field, and that's the shift that I've seen in Cade's mind -- just his ability to manage the game. He's starting to blossom and continuing to get better every week, which is exactly what we thought would happen with Cade. There are always things that he's tweaking and always trying to get better which is why he's going to be great for sure.”

On his confidence in the offense: “We've got all the confidence in this offense and there's never a time where we've lacked belief in how we can move the ball. [If] we just make the routine plays and do everything that we do out there on the practice field, nobody has been able to stop us. So, we've got so much confidence in this offense. We're going to continue to grow and get better and we've gotten better every single week and that's what you want to see out of, not only the team but the offense in particular.”
