On the Wake Forest game: “I was dealing with bad headaches throughout the week. Just trying to push through it. It was just getting worse throughout the week. As we were going to the stadium, it was pretty bad on the bus. After Tiger Walk, I went into the locker room and just told him how I was feeling. I was just feeling pretty bad. That’s their number one job, just to make sure the players are physically and mentally able to go. They did a good job monitoring me and making sure I got better. Kudos to our training staff for that. It was a pretty off day. Freak accident. I don’t really know what really happened. I was dealing with some blood sugar things too and just bad migraines. Definitely feeling better. It was great to get back out there on the field and compete this week. I'm thankful for that.”

On the defensive performance against Miami: “It was definitely a hard-fought loss, physical, and gruesome game. Sucks that we came out with the L. But, we have the windshield mentality. We don’t really want to dwell in the past too much onto the next week. If we would have won the game last week, we would still have to go 1-0 this week. It doesn't really change for us. We just really want to go out there every Saturday and just be the best team we can be. Be the best defense that we can be for that offense we have. Just really playing for each other. The love of the game. The love that we have for each other just to go out there and go 1-0 each week.”

On staying focused: “That goes to what Coach Swinney talks to us about all the time. Just being in the now. Just being great where your feet are. Blooming where you are planting. With that off the table, you can’t really dwell on any of the losses that we took. Or any of the lessons that we learned. It’s in the past and you never want to let a loss beat you twice. We look at the film. Figure out what we have to do better and just get better moving forward. Try to go 1-0 each week for the rest of the year. Just see what happens at the end.”

On being resilient as a team: “That's definitely the goal and it’s hard for anybody with a loss. You got alumni and people that are just tied dearly to Clemson. When you got out there, you might not come out on top. It’s emotional for everybody and everybody takes it differently. You just take that into consideration. We have a job to do and we can’t dwell on our past mistakes or the past L. We come here, and this is our mental Monday. We get our mind right. We look at film. Once we go out to practice, we start focusing on NC State then it must be flushed. We can’t let that L beat us twice. Like I said, the goal is to go 1-0 this week. Put everything that we did last week behind us. Just be our best team moving forward.”
