Deshaun Watson may be going through rehab, but that didn't stop him from taking the time to make an appearance at Super Bowl Media Days in Minneapolis.
The Houston Texans quarterback sat down with the crew of Super Bowl Live and former Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith asked Watson what one thing was that he didn't see coming.
A "wow" moment.
Watson paused.
"That's when you know you got everything when nothing 'wows' you anymore," Smith said.
Of course, tearing his ACL and ending hi rookie season was something Watson didn't see coming. In only seven games, Watson threw 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
But week three stood out.
Watson led his team on the road to New England to face the Patriots and Tom Brady, one of the game's greatest.
"Even though we didn't win, how I went toe-to-toe with him on the road," Watson said.
"The guy that I have been watching since I was a little kid, it's like, 'Tom Brady is over there on the sideline.'"
Watson finished that game completing 22 of 33 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns, but it didn't take long for Watson to be another victim of Brady's late-game heroics.
The Patriots got the ball down five with two minutes to go and Watson could only look from the sideline.
"I was sitting there with Tom Savage and I'm like 'yo, have you ever been in a situation where you have seen it on TV and you never thought it was going to happen to you, but you feel like it's about to happen to you?' Tom was like, 'this is about to happen.' You could just feel it."
With 23 seconds left, Brady found Brandon Cooks on a 25-yard pass for the winning score.
"I was pissed off, but at the same time I'm like, 'man, I just went toe-to-toe with one of the best ever to do it.'"
Even in defeat, that game was Watson's "coming out party" as he showed the rest of the league what he was capable of doing. Watson said he's feeling great and is on track to start for the Texans next season.
