IMPACT.

There is no doubt that several players who arrive on campus every season at Clemson are more than capable of having an impact from Day 1. This past season, we saw that both Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee were more than qualified to hit the field early and often.

Murphy, a former Top 5 national recruit, made an immediate impact in 2020, earning Freshman All-America honors from several outlets. He enters his second season with 51 tackles (12.0 for loss), 4.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a pass breakup in 414 snaps over 12 games.

As for Bresee, the former No. 1 recruit in the country burst onto the scene as a Freshman All-American in 2020, becoming just the second ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in Clemson history, joining Dexter Lawrence (2016).

On offense, D.J. Uiagalelei and E.J. Williams also emerged as players who could absolutely be impactful for the Tigers as true freshmen if needed.

So who are the players in this year’s class that you can expect to play a role in 2021?

Our new Caughman’s Fan Poll on the front page lists a few incoming players that could flash this year, so take a moment to vote, but also let us know in the comments below!

The poll includes Payton Page‍, Beaux Collins‍, Will Shipley‍, and Barrett Carter‍. You can also vote for “other” if you think there is a “sleeper” pick out there.

HOOP IT UP.

The Clemson Tigers started 9-1 in its first 10 contests for just the 20th time in school history. Seven of the nine wins were against Power Five conference opponents, the most of any in those 20 seasons. The previous high was five in 1934-35.

Tonight’s game will be televised on RSN with Tom Werme and Dan Bonner calling the action, while Don Munson and Tim Bourret will call the action on the radio waves. The radio call will be available on the Clemson Tigers Network and Tunein.com

Aamir Simms posted his sixth double-digit scoring game of the season with 19 points at Georgia Tech (Jan. 20). Simms finished an efficient 9-of-14 from the field. He also has two 20-point outings this season.

Clemson is hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to Virginia, Georgia Tech, and FSU by an average of 23.9 points per game.

SMART STUFF.

U.S. News & World Report has once again ranked a Clemson University College of Education program among the top online graduate education program in the nation in 2021.

According to Clemson News, the college’s Master of Education in Teaching and Learning program was ranked #2 out of more than 300 online programs. This marks the fourth year in a row that it was first or second.

According to George J. Petersen, founding dean of the College of Education, maintaining a top ranking in a crowded field of online education programs is no small feat. He said the ranking is once again proof of the hard work put into curriculum design and delivery by a faculty and staff that see the value in online programs that allow busy education professionals to further their careers.

Can I go on the record to state that there is NO WAY Clemson University would let me in the school in this day and age....NO WAY!!

A BIT OFF THE PATH.

Yesterday marked one year since Kobe Bryant’s passing in a helicopter accident. As tributes poured in, one cool VHS video surfaced of a short clip of Bryant’s pre-draft workout.

In MLB news, history was made last night as no players were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame for the 2021 class.

To be inducted, a player must receive 75 percent of the vote cast by the roughly 400 voting members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Finally, with so many people working out at home during COVID-19, weights and other items have been hard to come by, but according to USA Today, dumbbells are back in stock!
