Swanny thinks opting out is easily the worst thing happening in college football today. What are your thoughts?
Swanny on Kenny Pickett and Kenneth Walker opting out of the Peach Bowl:
"He (Pickett) was in the mix for the Heisman Trophy-- who single-handedly eliminated the quarterback fake-slide from college football. Who was heading into the biggest bowl game in Pitt football since the early 80s-- maybe 1982. Kenny Pickett, announcing that he will not play in the Peach Bowl against Michigan State. It would be one thing if it were only Kenny Pickett, who had made this decision to opt-out, but equally, Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III, who also was in the mix for the Heisman Trophy, who at one point may have been considered the favorite for the Heisman Trophy-- he will not play in that game either. Folks, I know that NIL-- I know that the transfer portal-- I know these things frustrate you and they create endless amounts of pain to think about what it's done to the college football game-- some positive, some negative. But the virus that is opting out of bowl games just kills me. It is the worst thing I think that's happening right now in college football and that's tough for me to say with NIL and the transfer portal being this just 'do whatever you want to do deal'.”
