Zackery’s 21 Leads Clemson in 70-59 Win at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – Clemson University men’s basketball grinded out a 70-59 win on the road at Georgia Tech on Tuesday night, leading wire-to-wire and moving to 6-1 in the ACC.

The Tigers (14-4, 6-1 ACC) were led by Jaeden Zackery (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central/Boston College) who finished with a season-high 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting, including three triples. He added six rebounds and three steals.

Ian Schieffelin (Atlanta, Ga./Grayson) filled up the stat sheet, totaling 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Clemson held Georgia Tech scoreless through the first nearly seven minutes of the opening stanza, but the Yellow Jackets settled in shortly thereafter. With the Tigers leading 23-20, they finished the half on a 13-5 run to lead 36-25 at the break.

The Tigers kept the Jackets at bay for most of the second half and even pushed its lead to a game-high 19 at 57-38 with 8:27 left in regulation. Clemson would hold on to win by 11.

Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) turned in 14 points, while Viktor Lakhin (Anapa, Russia/CSKA-2/Cincinnati) totaled 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot to help protect the Tigers’ basket. 

Chauncey Wiggins (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) added seven points and three rebounds.

Clemson assisted on 16 of its 23 made field goals in the game and added eight steals and four blocked shots.

The Tigers return to the court when they travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. on The CW.
