Clemson football continued to build momentum in its 2027 recruiting class Monday when four-star safety Jarrell Chandler‍ announced his commitment to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound standout from Halls High School chose Clemson over fellow finalists Vanderbilt, Miami, and home-state program Tennessee.

Chandler had previously announced plans to take official visits to Clemson the weekend of May 29 and Vanderbilt the weekend of June 5, while also planning a return trip to Miami for an official visit. Instead, the highly coveted defensive back shut down his recruitment and gave his pledge to the Tigers before those trips could take place.

Clemson’s pursuit of Chandler accelerated quickly after the Tigers extended an offer in January. Just two months later, Chandler made the trip from Knoxville to attend Clemson’s Elite Retreat in March, a visit that proved pivotal in strengthening the relationship between the rising prospect and the Tigers’ coaching staff.

Chandler is rated as a four-star prospect and ranks as the No. 91 overall player nationally and the No. 6 safety in the country, according to Rivals. His blend of size, range, and physicality has made him one of the fastest-rising defensive prospects in the 2027 cycle.

Last season, Chandler starred on both sides of the ball for Halls High School. From his safety position, he totaled 94 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one interception, eight passes defended, and three forced fumbles.

He also emerged as a major offensive weapon at receiver, hauling in 42 catches for 691 yards and seven touchdowns.

Chandler becomes Clemson’s eighth commit in the class, giving the Tigers a tall, rangy defensive back as they continue prioritizing size and versatility in the secondary.
