K'Von Wallace to Philadelphia Eagles with 127th pick
The sixth Clemson Tigers was taken moments ago in the 2020 NFL Draft as K’Von Wallace was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 127th pick. Wallace was a 4th round selection.
Wallace “tested off the charts” according to sources and once again Clemson’s mindset on bringing in the right type of players has paid off and has become a huge part of the Tigers' recent NFL success.
“K’Von is one of those guys that sums up how Dabo Swinney has built Clemson,” one analyst noted. “He wasn’t some five-star guy, but he became a key piece to Clemson winning and contention for national championships year-in and year-out.”
NFL.com describes Wallace: "While he played some safety and a lot of big nickel in 2019, his biggest impact came when cutting it loose as a downhill blitzer, disrupting the run and smashing quarterbacks. Wallace plays with exceptional grit and tenacity. He unloads with everything he's got on hit after hit. His hips may be too tight to hold up in man coverage and he lacks range as a high safety. He's a potential backup safety capable of playing near the line and helping on special teams.”

“Completed four-year Clemson career credited with 178 career tackles (5.5 for loss), 21 passes broken up, five interceptions returned for 180 yards (including one returned for a touchdown), two sacks and two forced fumbles in 1,896 snaps over 59 games (36 starts) … departed Clemson tied for the most career games played in school history, matching the 59 by Christian Wilkins, Tanner Muse and Cannon Smith.”
Dabo Swinney on Wallace: “K’Von Wallace is a graduate and was one of the most underrated guys probably in this draft. He’s kind of a Swiss Army knife as well. He’s kind of like Marcus Gilchrist in that he can play either safety, he can play nickel, he can play dime, and he can truly play corner. He does all the dirty work and he doesn’t mind doing it. He can blitz. He’ll come fill the gaps in the run game. He’s an excellent special teams player. High character, a captain, and one of the most energetic guys you’re going to have on your team and just a guy I think is going to make somebody a heck of a player. There is really nothing he can’t do. He can run. He’s got good size, strength, power and great versatility. He, along with Isaiah Simmons and Tanner Muse, do all the same things, just in a different way. He’s a true safety that can play corner. He’s got the toughness to go up in the box and the nickel and dime spots as well.”
