On App State: They don’t sneak up on anyone anymore. They’ve got the full attention. They’ve got everybody’s respect. They’re not huge on defense, so as a result, they move everywhere to cause confusion. Good football team coming in here.”

On the Georgia game: “First of all, tremendous leadership by our team after the game. That’s a tough moment. You work all year--all camp--and it doesn’t go your way. This is a close team. This team has a real shot to be very, very good. This year and for years to come. It’s not always what you see. That game is better if you win--and it got away from us in the third quarter. I always talk to them about how you play the game. Really, since last year, I feel like I’ve been rebuilding some of those foundational principles of how you have to play to have the big results that you want to get.”

On the offensive and defensive lines playing well: “I thought that’s what I would see. I think they thought that, too. It’s one thing to think that you know, and it’s another thing when you know that you know. Demonte Capehart? Man, he played a really good game. Peter Woods? I thought he was the best player on the field. We are going to have a really good group.”

On the freshman wideouts: “I wish we could have got them in there a little bit more the other night. Wesco played a good bit. We only had like 50 plays. It was kind of a weird game like that. Wesco is ready to roll, and TJ (Moore) he’s really right there man. we’ve got six guys that we consider starters at receiver. I like the depth. I like the group. I think you will continue to see those young guys shine more and more as they go.”

On a gameday routine: “We have a routine for a noon game, an afternoon game, and an eight o’clock game. We always do game prep here on Fridays. We try to get wherever we are going between 4:00-4:15. At home, we try to get to the hotel by 5:00. The routine of a noon game is that your pregame meal is always four hours before kickoff. It’s show and go on a noon game. It’s eggs and steak, a pregame meal, and we have a little offense and defense meeting, and then we load the bus, and we go. For an afternoon game, the guys have a little more time to sleep in a little bit. We have an open breakfast. Then we have meetings and a break and a snack. Then they will come back and later we have chapel. Then they go change. Then they come back down twenty minutes before we load the bus, and we have a walk-through. We always try to get to the stadium about two hours and ten minutes before kickoff.”
