The Storylines

Clemson's four victories in 2024 have shared several commonalities, but chief among them have been the Tigers' fast starts and their turnover efficiency. Clemson has outscored opponents 90-0 in the first quarter of games this season, and Clemson's first-quarter scoring differential of +18.0 points leads the nation. This season marks Clemson's first time holding opponents scoreless in the first quarter of each of the first five games of a season since 1990.

Clemson's final three plays on the last series:

A run play that resulted in loss of yards
A bad snap that Klubnik fell on
Klubnik sack

Bad sequence of plays for the Tigers there and they punt the ball back to Wake as we've got a defensive stalemate early. 3:41 to play in the 1Q. No score in Winston Salem.

Touchdown Wake. Horatio Fields beats Sherrod Covil for the 31-yard TD. Per the TV broadcast, this is the first time Clemson has trailed since the loss to Georgia. Definitely a slow start for Clemson so far. No question the offense needs to get something going here on this next series.

Momentum has shifted quickly towards Clemson as the Tigers punch it into the endzone on 4th and goal.

Tigers go with the jumbo package with Peter Woods lined up in the backfield, leading the way for Phil Mafah's second score of the day.

Touchdown Wake Forest. Bachmeier finds Michael Frogge from 6 yards out. Good response for the Deacs after the two straight interceptions. Deuce Alexander with a 38-yard completion a key play on the series on that slow mesh that Wake runs.

See if Clemson can put a drive together here before the half.

Great catch on the slant from Troy Stellato for a touchdown from 8 yards out. That's a huge score for Clemson as they will get the ball to start the second half.

Also, Clemson is really cooking right now offensively after a slow start in the first quarter. I was really impressed with the hard, downhill running from Mafah on that drive as well.

Clemson comes out in the second half and picks up right where they left off. Klubnik goes 7-of-7 on that drive, culminating with a 9-yard Adam Randall TD catch and run. Tigers in complete control right now, leading 35-14 with 9:52 to play in the 3Q.

Clemson goes into the bag of tricks on the double pass from Antonio Williams to Jake Briningstool for a 28-yard strike -- a walk in touchdown. And this is what we've seen over the last few weeks with the explosiveness of the offense. It's been fun to watch.
