Listen: Coach Speak with Tommy Bowden
Tommy Bowden of the ACC Network joined us earlier this week to talk about tonight's matchup between Clemson and Virginia Tech. We hit on several topics including the transition from Frank Beamer to Justin Fuente and Bud Foster's willingness to stay on staff after the move was made.
On Clemson sleepwalking against Boston College:
"Yeah, I don't think there is any doubt. I don't care how much you talk to your team; you are only with them for so long. But for 24-7, seven days a week they are reading the newspaper, they're looking at social media. They heard how bad they're going to beat Boston College."
On Boston College playing the Tigers tough:
"Clemson is everybody's bowl game. Anybody that wants to be recognized nationally, you can jump on the stage by beating Clemson."
"Clemson's good enough that they can sleepwalk for three-quarters, but talented enough to jump on them."
On Clemson and Virginia Tech:
"Defense wins championships." "Who's the more talented team? It's going to be Clemson."
On the quarterbacks:
"Watch Josh Jackson at Virginia Tech is a younger Kelly Bryant. As a freshman, he leads the ACC in passing efficiency."
On the game:
"I think Clemson can run the ball a little bit better. I look for a slight advantage for Clemson in the running game and defense."
"Playing in Blacksburg on a Saturday night, it will be an electric environment."
