For Kameron Cody‍, a 6’3, 285-pound defensive tackle prospect from Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia, Wednesday was anything but ordinary. When Clemson defensive tackles coach Nick Eason paid a visit to Cody’s home, the four-star prospect found himself on the receiving end of a dream come true: an official offer from the Tigers.

“The conversation was great with Coach Eason,” Cody shared shortly after the visit. “He came by my house, and we talked about what I wanted to major in. At first, I wasn’t sure that I was going to receive an offer, but during the course of our conversation, he told me I had received it.”

Cody’s love for Clemson, however, began long before football was the centerpiece of his connection to the school. A trip to Clemson in seventh grade for Brad Brownell’s Basketball Camp unexpectedly set the stage for a deep admiration for the university.

“The crazy thing is, I didn’t go up there for football. I went up there for a basketball camp and fell in love with the school,” Cody recalled. That early exposure, coupled with his recent interactions with the football program, has placed Clemson among the elite programs vying for his commitment.

In addition to Clemson, Cody has been actively pursued by programs such as Arizona State, Indiana, Miami, UCF, and UCLA. However, the Clemson offer carries particular weight.

“Receiving an offer from Clemson was a dream come true,” Cody said. “I’ve been in love with the school for a long time.”

When asked about his current preferences, Cody didn’t hesitate to elevate the Tigers. “They are one of my Top 2 picks on my list as of right now,” he revealed.

Unlike most Clemson recruits, Cody’s basketball camp visit years ago effectively fulfilled the Tigers’ unofficial policy of offering only to players who have been on campus. That experience allowed him to tour the facilities and get a sense of the culture, which has resonated with him ever since.

Asked about head coach Dabo Swinney’s policy, the standout said he believed that trip was the reason the offer was dispensed.

“Yes, sir, because during that camp toured the campus and the facilities,” Cody noted. “So I believe that counted.”

Looking ahead, Cody plans to finalize his decision timeline after completing his official visits, with a commitment potentially coming as early as April.

In the meantime, Clemson’s offer and Cody’s longstanding affinity for the school make the Tigers a strong contender to land one of the 2026 class’s top defensive line prospects.

For now, Cody is soaking in the moment—a milestone that marks the culmination of years of hard work and a connection that began with a basketball camp but could ultimately lead to him anchoring the defensive line for one of college football’s premier programs.
