Speed Kills: Clemson lands second wideout Commit during Elite Retreat

Clemson’s push for elite offensive playmakers has landed another major commitment. One of the most electrifying receivers in the 2026 class, Connor Salmin‍ made his pledge to the Tigers during today’s Elite Retreat, adding world-class speed to Clemson’s future receiver room.

The Bullis School (Potomac, Md.) standout, a consensus top-30 wide receiver prospect, had been a highly sought-after target, holding more than 25 offers from premier programs, including Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. But Clemson’s consistency in recruiting him helped seal the deal.

"Clemson is one of the schools I stay in touch with the most,” Salmin said recently. “As I am narrowing things down, Clemson stays a top school for me."

Salmin is more than just fast—he’s elite fast. He won the 2024 Virginia 4A 100-meter state championship with a blazing 10.44-second finish and competed on a national stage at the prestigious Milrose Games, where he placed seventh in the Juniors 60 meters with a time of 6.90 seconds. More recently, he helped lead Bullis to a national record in the Sprint Medley Relay at the 2025 VA Showcase, an event where Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham was in attendance.

The Tigers’ staff believes that kind of speed can be a game-changer in their system, and Salmin agrees.

"They feel like my speed would fit well in their offense," he said.

Salmin had taken visits to several powerhouse programs, including LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Clemson, however, stood out for more than just its offensive fit.

"I really liked the coaching staff. They all seemed like really great people and also really good coaches," Salmin said. "I also really liked the campus and how everything was set up there."

Clemson’s invite-only Elite Retreat provided him with a deeper connection to the program, as the staff, current players, and top recruits spent time in an exclusive setting designed to showcase what makes the Tigers unique.

Salmin has made it clear what he values in a college program—relationships with coaches, development, academics, and life after football. Clemson checked every box.

Now, the Tigers have secured one of the fastest playmakers in the country, a receiver with the ability to stretch the field and change games with a single play.

Pairing Salmin with fellow wide receiver commit Naeem Burroughs‍ gives the Tigers two dynamic weapons in the 2025 class—both capable of making an impact early in their careers. Clemson’s 2026 class currently has seven commitments, with Burroughs and four-star offensive lineman Adam Guthrie‍ committing during this weekend’s event.
