Four-Star Defensive End Dre Quinn Commits to Clemson Over Texas
Clemson continues to strengthen its defensive front for the future, landing a major commitment from four-star edge rusher Dre Quinn on Thursday. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound pass rusher from announced his decision over fellow finalist Texas, capping off a highly competitive recruitment that included offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and Notre Dame.
Quinn, who recently transferred from Greater Atlanta Christian School to powerhouse Buford High, has been on Clemson’s radar for months. The Tigers first extended an offer to the explosive defender following his visit for the Louisville game last fall, and their consistent presence throughout the process proved pivotal. Defensive ends coach Chris Rumph visited Quinn’s home on January 21, and both Rumph and head coach Dabo Swinney were visible fixtures during the contact period.
“It was great!” Quinn said of his in-home visit with Rumph. “I got to sit down with him and my parents and talk about different things — such as how Clemson is a good fit for me.”
The Tigers see Quinn as a dynamic piece off the edge with rare traits. According to Quinn, the staff has emphasized his “athleticism and length,” traits that have earned him a 90.15 On3 Industry Rating and made him one of the top edge defenders in the nation.
During his commitment Quinn said, “I want to thank all the coaches, the colleges that have offered me, all the coaches who've recruited me and believed in me from the start, but first off, I want to thank God for blessing with this opportunity today, because without him, I'm nothing.”
The talented defensive end went on to say, “After a lot of prayer and thought and talks with my parents, I want to commit to Clemson University,” to a chorus of cheers from his family and friends.
Quinn had a busy visit schedule ahead of his decision, including a recent stop in Austin, but his attendance at Clemson’s Elite Retreat on March 8 stood out as a strong indicator of where things were trending. His recent official visit to Tiger Town helped solidify Clemson’s status.
Now, with his commitment in place, Clemson adds a versatile and ascending talent who brings a ton of physicality and burst to the Tigers’ defensive line room. Quinn’s commitment not only boosts Clemson’s 2026 class but signals once again the Tigers’ ability to win high-profile recruiting battles against national powers.
For Rumph and the defensive staff, it’s another major building block — and for Swinney, it’s a sign that the Clemson brand is still resonating with elite defenders in the Southeast.
