Clemson graduate tight end Ian Schieffelin was arrested on suspicion of DUI this weekend, according to a report first published by TigerNet’s David Hood.
Schieffelin, listed at 6-foot-7, 265 pounds, is a graduate senior from Grayson, Georgia. He made headlines when he switched sports at Clemson, transitioning from Brad Brownell’s basketball team to Dabo Swinney’s football program ahead of the 2024 season. Entering 2025, he was expected to bring size and athleticism to a tight end group that also includes Olsen Patt-Henry and Christian Bentancur.
Head Coach Dabo Swinney released a statement addressing the arrest:
“We are aware of Ian Schieffelin’s arrest on suspicion of DUI. Clemson Athletics has a clear policy by which we will abide, so Ian will miss some competition to start this season as a consequence. We’re obviously very disappointed by the situation, but we are very thankful no others were involved and no one was hurt.”
Clemson opens its 2025 season on August 30 against LSU in Death Valley.
