Clemson wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. was taken to a local hospital after suffering a serious injury late in Saturday’s game against SMU. Wesco landed awkwardly on his head following a play where he was hit low and did not return to the game.

Head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed postgame that Wesco was later transported for evaluation.

“Yeah, they took him to the hospital to check him out,” Swinney said. “It was a pretty serious deal, so keep him in your prayers.”

When asked if the injury was to Wesco’s head or neck, Swinney declined to specify.

“I’m not going to speculate on all that,” Swinney added. “It was just a very serious deal. We were concerned enough to where, hey, we need to take him and get him checked.”

Wesco, a sophomore receiver from Midlothian, Texas, has been one of Clemson’s most explosive playmakers this season with 31 receptions for 537 yards and six touchdowns.
