"Big Dex" heads to the Big Apple, Giants select Lawrence 17th
Early in the NFL Draft Dexter Lawrence became the third Clemson Tiger taken off the board as the New York Giants drafted the 340-pound defensive lineman with the 17th overall pick.
Lawrence, who had a tremendous three-year career at Clemson will now get an opportunity to play in “The city that never sleeps”.
Joining both No. 4 pick Clelin Ferrell (Oakland Raiders) and No. 13 pick Christian Wilkins (Miami Dolphins) the trip became just the second position group to have three players selected in the first round since the merger.
Lawrence completed his Clemson career with 162 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 43 quarterback pressures. He also had five pass breakups, a forced fumble, and three recovered fumbles during his 1,541 career snaps
Lawrence was a first-team All-American who was also a three-time All-ACC selection.
