Detroit takes defensive lineman Austin Bryant, 1st Tiger drafted by Lions in 40 years
Clemson defensive end Austin Bryant became the 5th former Tiger taken in the 2019 NFL draft, as he was selected 117 overall during the 4th round.
Bryant was a mainstay on the Clemson defensive line, spending four years in Tiger Town and racking up 21 career sacks and 37 tackles for loss. Bryant had 8.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons. He becomes the fourth Clemson defensive lineman drafted this year.
The 6-foot-4, 271-pound Bryant recorded 30.5 tackles for a loss and 17 sacks over the past two seasons, earning third-team All-American honors in 2017 and third-team All-ACC honors in his final season.
Bryant became the first Clemson Tiger drafted by the Detriot since 1979 when the Lions selected Jonathan Brooks in the fourth round 40 years ago.
