Clemson head coach Brad Brownell picked up his first 2020 basketball recruit when in-state product P.J. Hall committed to the Tigers over ACC conference foe Virginia Tech.

Clemson got Hall’s pledge despite family ties to the Hokies who are coached by Mike Young, his father’s head coach at Wofford College, and Florida where his sister is a volleyball player.

The four-star power forward is from nearby Dorman High in Roebuck, SC and regarded as the number one player in the state and 61st nationally by 247Sports. He should be a welcomed sight for a Clemson team almost devoid of post players. As of today, looking ahead to next season, he would join Aamir Simms and Trey Jemison in the front court.

At 6-foot-9, 220 pounds, Hall is an adept shooter for his size with adequate post skills. He fits well in Brownell’s motion offense and should see playing time as a freshman.

Before making a decision, Hall took official visits to Clemson on Sept. 6 and Virginia Tech on Oct. 11.
