Arizona Cardinals Release Andre Ellington
One day after Andre Ellington was surprisingly declared a healthy scratch for the Arizona Cardinals' game against the Houston Texans, the team announced that they had officially cut the fifth-year veteran.
Andre Ellington became expendable to the team after they acquired Adrian Peterson from the New Orleans Saints and the younger Kerwynn Williams established himself in the running back rotation. D.J. Foster also provides the Cardinals with a similar player. There is a good chance that Ellington is picked up via the waiver wire, however, as his versatility can still be valuable to a team. Ellington was the second leading receiver in terms of receptions for Arizona behind Larry Fitzgerald before being released.
Ellington finishes his season with Arizona with 15 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown, as well as 33 catches for 297 yards.
