The Storylines
Clemson returns from the first of two BYE weeks built into the revised 2020 schedule to host the Virginia Cavaliers in a rematch of the 2019 ACC Championship Game this evening in Death Valley. Tonight’s contest will be the first of four home games for the Tigers in the month of October.
Travis Etienne enters tonight’s game with his 13-game streak of scoring a touchdown snapped after not scoring a touchdown in their 49-0 win against The Citadel two weeks ago. The last time he was held scoreless was against Syracuse on Sept. 14, 2019. The senior from Jennings, La., is still seeking to still looking to tie Florida’s Tim Tebow and Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon for the FBS record with a touchdown of any kind this evening.
Clemson is coming off their first shutout since the 2016 Fiesta Bowl win over Ohio State with a win over The Citadel. Brent Venables’ group has been impressive so far against the run this year, holding the opposition to 1.50 yards per carry, which is the third-fewest in the country.
