Purpose driven by SERVANT leadership with Corinne Milien
Show Notes:
- Pronunciation of her name is a challenge for people all the time and she even wanted to change her name to Michelle growing up
- Michelle is still her “club name” so if someone asks for her name while out and she doesn’t want to give it to them she will say, Michelle
- Parents are Haitian immigrants and Corinne had to grow up fast interacting with adults since her mom didn’t speak English
- She considers herself a risk-taker and a rebel as well because rarely do well-behaved women make or change history
- Joined the Air Force at 17 years old and had to get special permission from her parents
- Peer mentors have been a big part of her life but learned early in life about excellence as a graduate assistant for Pat Summitt
- Sports has always been something that she enjoyed but it was more from the social aspect and an opportunity to be with friends
- Co-founded The Winning Edge Leadership Academy with Maria Taylor after seeing that most student-athletes weren’t prepared like non-student-athletes for entering the workforce especially in the sports and entertainment industry
- She loves to be challenged and understanding how she can be better
- Servant leadership is so important to her and is one of the foundations she tries to instill in The Winning Edge
- Words of Wisdom from Corinne from Muhammed Ali: “Service to others is the rent that you pay for your time on earth.”
