One of the ACC's best commits to Clemson
Former Syracuse point guard Joseph "Joe" Girard III (6'1, 190) committed to Clemson basketball on Sunday. Girard, a graduate senior, chose the Tigers over LSU and announced it via social media.
Girard averaged 16.4 points (sixth in ACC), 3.0 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game in 2022-23.
On February 22 at Littlejohn Coliseum, Girard scored 11 points in a 73-91 loss to Clemson and has a career average of 14 points with highs of 19 and 23 in five games against the Tigers.
Besides being a steady player with career averages of 13.2 points, 3.6 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals, he excels as a shooter from beyond the arc (36 percent) and the free throw line (86 percent). Last season, he was fourth in the ACC in three-point percentage (38.1) and third in free throw percentage (85.7).
Girard joins combo forward Jack Clark (NC State), wing Jake Heidbreder (Air Force), and center Bas Leyte (UNC-Greensboro) as commits from the transfer portal.
