In an exciting turn of events, Ronan O'Connell, a standout offensive lineman from Franklin, Tennessee, has committed to play for the Clemson Tigers, launching fireworks across Tiger Nation on the Fourth of July.
O'Connell brings size and skill to the table at 6'4" and weighing in at 285 pounds. The four-star prospect and 31st ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 class is the first of three potential takes on the offensive line.
O'Connell's decision to join the Tigers marks the 15th commitment for the 2024 class, highlighting their continued success in recruiting top talent. The coaching staff, led by offensive line coach Thomas Austin, played a crucial role in attracting O'Connell to the program.
After careful consideration, O'Connell's decision ultimately came down to Clemson and Tennessee. Both schools offered compelling opportunities-- Tennessee was thought to be the leader for much of O’Connell’s recruitment-- making his choice a tough one. However, ultimately, the scales tipped in the Tigers' favor.
Hailing from Fred J. Page High School, O'Connell has showcased exceptional skills and athleticism throughout his high school career. His physical attributes, football IQ, and technique make him a force on the field.
O’Connell possesses the strength to overpower opponents and the agility to maneuver in the trenches effectively. His ability to anchor the line and protect the quarterback will undoubtedly bolster Clemson's offense and enhance their chances of success.
The Tigers and Vols will face off again later this week for another offensive lineman as four-star William Satterwhite will choose between the two programs on Friday.
